The heart of our business is to see the empowerment of young, previously disadvantaged South Africans.
To find deserving, aspirant, and eager candidates who have the drive and enthusiasm to learn.
To provide world-class education and mentorship to nurture the candidate’s abilities.
To establish our graduates in industry-relevant and meaningful employment to grow a sustainable career.
ISS Empowerment engages with rural and urban communities to recruit deserving candidates to participate on Learnerships.
Our focus is on community youth development, with meaningful education and employment as the outcome.
We believe in a non-discriminatory process, therefore the recruitment and selection includes vulnerable youth and persons with disability (PWD).
Rural communities are marginalised and isolated geographically. Transport costs are high which limits communities exposure to networking, education and access to information. We help bridge this gap.
Through the ISS network of clients, we establish where clients have skills gaps. We then align our training programs accordingly with meaningful employment as the ultimate outcome.
Developing and improving skills and expertise for current and future needs.
The ISS education intervention provides focus and structure. It develops self-confidence and self-esteem and many other transferable skills such as discipline and commitment.
Mentoring Learners in the program is critical to their overall success. Mentorship is not limited to the Learnership, it importantly also includes a structured support program looking after the Learner’s general interests/success.
We ensure there are 3 types of mentorships in the incubator programme:
We focus on developing positive values and investing in the self-worth of individuals.
The ISS network provides host employers for all Learners. ISS Empowerment engages meaningfully with our clients and ensures that the workplace structure has been set up properly.
Wide exposure to the workplace is given during the 12 month period. This enables the prospective employer and employee to gauge where they may fit best into their new workplace – now and into the future.
We offer workplace sensitisation to prospective employers on persons with disability (PWD) so that they also gain and move forward with equity and diversity in the workplace.
Employment is the outcome that we strive for, for all persons on the Empowerment journey.
Learners effectively have a 12 month interview with prospective employers where they obtain their workplace experience.
With the holistic approach that the Empowerment journey follows, we have a high success rate with workplace absorption.
Our focus is on meaningful employment, building future leaders who focus on a career rather than ‘just a job’.
